Upcoming Full Moon: Strawberry Moon to Light Up June Skies

For those who missed the rare blue moon in May, there’s good news. The next full moon, known as the Strawberry Moon, will be visible in June. This celestial event is named after the time of year when strawberries ripen, a tradition rooted in the practices of Native American tribes such as the Algonquian, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples.

When to See the Strawberry Moon

The Strawberry Moon will reach its peak on Monday, June 29, at 7:57 p.m. ET. However, sky gazers can enjoy its full appearance a few days before and after this date.

In addition to being called the Strawberry Moon, this full moon is also known by other names, including the Berries Ripen Moon, Blooming Moon, Green Corn Moon, Hoer Moon, and Birth Moon. These names reflect the agricultural and natural events associated with this time of year.
