The University of Tennessee in Knoxville has announced a change in its baseball coaching staff, as Assistant Coach Josh Reynolds will no longer be part of the program. Reynolds, who was promoted to assistant coach in November 2025, had previously served as the Director of Baseball Operations and Pitching Performance for the team.
Reynolds’ Contributions
During his tenure, Reynolds played a pivotal role in enhancing the performance of the pitching staff. Under his guidance, the team achieved impressive national rankings, finishing second in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 11.9, sixth in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 3.17, 14th in ERA with 4.06, and 15th in WHIP at 1.29. His efforts were instrumental in elevating the team’s competitive edge on the national stage.
Reynolds brought over 20 years of experience in college and professional baseball, both as a player and a coach, to the University of Tennessee. His expertise and dedication were acknowledged by Head Coach Josh Elander, who expressed gratitude for Reynolds’ hard work and commitment to the program.
Looking Ahead
Despite Reynolds’ contributions, Head Coach Elander has decided to pursue a new direction for the team’s pitching strategy. “I want to thank Josh Reynolds for his hard work and dedication to the Tennessee baseball program during his two seasons in Knoxville, but I have decided it’s best for our program to move in a different direction from a pitching standpoint at this time,” Elander stated.
The university has already begun the search for a new pitching coach to continue building on the foundation laid by Reynolds and to further enhance the team’s performance in upcoming seasons.
