Students at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville began moving into their dorms Friday morning for the 2026 fall semester. University housing officials say after a few cancellations, every returning and transfer student on the housing interest list has been offered a place to live.

According to Billy Blount, Director of Residential Services for UARK, the university works to fill available beds as quickly as possible. “As those students cancel or maybe do different things, we will kind of backfill those beds with those returners on the waitlist to go through. And so we try to work that as weekly because we want to get students into housing as quickly as possible,” Blount said.

Fayetteville Mayor Molly Rawn and University of Arkansas Chancellor Charles Robinson helped assist with check-in throughout Friday morning. The university begins offering housing to returning students in the fall, months before the semester starts. Students should check their school email for their assigned move-in time and parking instructions.

University officials expect campus housing to be full as classes begin. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith is also preparing for students to move into campus housing. Fall move-in for Lion’s Den and Sebastian Commons is next Friday.
