As Halloween approaches, Uniontown businesses and nearby municipalities are rolling out a series of family‑friendly activities designed to give children a safe and enjoyable holiday experience. The effort combines traditional trunk‑or‑treat gatherings, a new corn‑maze attraction, and official town‑wide trick‑or‑treat routes.
Trunk‑or‑Treat at Ford of Uniontown and Premier Nissan
Ford of Uniontown, together with Premier Nissan, will host their annual trunk‑or‑treat on Oct. 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1 Superior Way. “We go up on top of the hill by the old Honda building,” said Jessica Caringola, business manager at Ford of Uniontown. “There are typically anywhere between 20 to 30 trunks for the children to go to.” Caringola noted that the event draws between 300 and 350 kids each year, a tradition that began four years ago and expanded when Premier Nissan joined a year later. The children enjoy seeing fire trucks, cement trucks, tow trucks and other large vehicles on display.
Reskovac Farms’ Fifth Annual Corn Maze
Reskovac Farms LLC is opening its fifth annual corn maze on Ruane Road. Owner Michael Reskovac described the 8.5‑acre maze as themed around America’s 250th birthday. The maze takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes to complete, and admission is $8 per person. “We also have bonfire pits available for rent on the premises,” Reskovac added, noting a $30 rental fee.
The farm has added a dedicated kids’ area featuring a wagon‑gravity basketball game and a giant box of corn for children to play in. “We wanted something family‑friendly because we have young kids and didn’t want it to be scary or haunted,” Reskovac explained. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with flashlight walks beginning after dark.
Municipal Trick‑or‑Treat Programs
Local municipalities are also organizing traditional trick‑or‑treat opportunities. The City of Uniontown’s website lists a city‑wide trick‑or‑treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., plus a “Treats on the Trail” event in Bailey Park from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Connellsville will hold its own trick‑or‑treat from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while Waynesburg in Greene County plans a 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. event. Carmichaels will host a trunk‑or‑treat at Wana B Park from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., according to the Greene County Parks and Recreation website.
Community Impact
These events aim to provide safe, supervised environments for children in neighborhoods where traditional door‑to‑door trick‑or‑treating may be hazardous. By offering alternatives such as trunk‑or‑treats and organized municipal routes, local leaders hope to foster community spirit, support family traditions, and keep children out of traffic‑heavy streets.
Parents are encouraged to attend early to secure parking and to bring flashlights for the farm’s evening walk. With multiple options across Uniontown and surrounding towns, families have a variety of choices to celebrate Halloween in a secure, family‑oriented setting.
