Undrafted Rookie Sydney Taylor Shines for Chicago Sky

Sydney Taylor, a standout collegiate player who went undrafted, has been making waves in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky. Despite not being drafted, Taylor has been averaging 9.5 points in just 13.5 minutes per game.

A Strong Preseason

Taylor’s strong preseason earned her a spot on the Sky’s roster, and she has been capitalizing on the opportunity. In a recent overtime loss to the Indiana Fever, Taylor exploded for a career-high 30 points on 10 of 14 shooting in just 21 minutes.

This performance is the highest-scoring affair by a member of the rookie class this season, and it’s also the most points scored by a bench player so far this year. Taylor’s 30-point game is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport.

A Bright Future

Taylor’s future with the Sky looks bright, and she could soon find herself jumping ahead of other guards in the rotation. Head coach Tyler Marsh suggested that improvements on the defensive end will enable Taylor to get more extended run.

Marsh said, ‘There’s been several games this year where she’s been able to show her explosiveness and then other times where rookie growing pains present itself. We know the type of offensive power that she has. She came better on the defensive end, so we’ll continue to find ways to get her in there.’
