Elizabeth Cieply, a certified sommelier, is opening Uncorked, a wine bar in the Fremont Shopping Center at 1314 E. Battlefield Road in south Springfield. The bar will focus on wine education and offer a variety of wines by the glass.
Community-Driven Space
Cieply wants to create a space where customers can slow down and connect with each other. She envisions a space with a slower pace where she can have one-on-one interactions with customers. The bar will offer a full-service restaurant serving charcuterie, sharable bites, and dessert all day.
Cieply grew up in Indiana and graduated from College of the Ozarks with a degree in education. She discovered her passion for wine while working at Top of the Rock and decided to become a sommelier. She has taken multiple exams to become a certified sommelier and wants to share her knowledge with customers.
Wine Education
Uncorked will offer 20-25 wines by the glass and will have storage space for 300 bottles. Cieply wants to educate customers about different wines and grapes they may not have heard of. She will help customers pick out nuances in the wine and understand the structure of the wine.
The bar will also offer a wine club and events like pop-up winemaker tastings. The venue will seat a maximum of 56 and offer a variety of seating from barstools to sofas and tables.
