Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Sunday that he will replace Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Zelenskiy expressed gratitude for Svyrydenko’s work as Prime Minister and offered her a new role in relations with a key partner.
Zelenskiy stated that government changes are necessary to implement an updated political strategy, but did not provide further details. Svyrydenko was appointed as Prime Minister in July 2025.
According to opposition lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak, Svyrydenko is likely to become the ambassador to the United States. The entire government will be reshuffled following Svyrydenko’s resignation, as required by Ukrainian law.
Possible successors to Svyrydenko include Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and Serhiy Koretskyi, head of the state energy company Naftogaz.
