The U.S. Mint has released special-edition coins to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary. The coins, which include nickels, dimes, quarters, and half-dollars, feature new historical designs that reflect the country’s founding principles and honor its history.
Designs and Features
The quarter is a key part of the program, with five different designs that highlight pivotal moments in American history. One design features the Mayflower Compact, while others depict motifs from the Declaration of Independence, the Revolutionary War, and the U.S. Constitution. The fifth quarter honors President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
The dime and half-dollar feature Liberty, an American allegorical figure of a mythical goddess. The nickel features a portrait of President Thomas Jefferson with the dual date, ‘1776 ~ 2026,’ to mark the anniversary.
Availability and Production
The coins are scheduled for circulation in separate intervals throughout the year. The U.S. Mint has approximately 1,400 employees across four production facilities and produced 8 billion coins during fiscal year 2025.
