Community organizations and business leaders met during the TXK Exchange Summit on Friday to discuss local needs and develop strategies for improving access to services across the Texarkana area.
Addressing Local Challenges
Participants focused on challenges affecting residents, including access to housing, transportation, mental health care, education and more, while exploring ways agencies can coordinate resources and improve assistance for individuals and families.
The initiative was the highlight of the TXK Exchange Progress Pathway Partner Summit, held at the East Texas Food Bank Resource Center. De’Anna O’Malley of Communities Unlimited said she wanted to attend because she was previously involved in a collaborative initiative and saw firsthand how much progress can be made when organizations work together toward a common goal.
Organizers said the goal of the summit was to leave with a completed draft of the pathway’s intake and assessment tools that all participating partners can use, along with a plan for training and implementation.
