Two people are safe after being stranded on the Cape Fear River in Harnett County. Members of the Erwin Fire & Rescue team initiated the search and water rescue operation early Wednesday morning. The Harnett County Emergency Services were also called to assist in the efforts.
The teams worked together to deploy drones and a hovercraft to locate the missing pair. Both individuals were later found approximately two miles upriver from the Erwin bridge. They were brought back to safety and evaluated by medical teams before returning to their original location.
This successful rescue is another great example of the strong partnerships, teamwork, and specialized capabilities shared between Erwin Fire & Rescue and Harnett County Emergency Management, EMS and the Fire Marshal, said authorities.
