Logan County officials say a fight between two delivery drivers for Graddy’s Transportation LLC ended in a fatal shooting on Monday. The incident, which began with a mistaken delivery, was captured in two separate 911 calls made by a nearby resident.
First 911 call describes a strange delivery
The caller, who lives at the residence where the delivery was attempted, reported that a driver pulled up and tried to leave an appliance at the wrong house. When the homeowner told the driver the package was not theirs, the driver became angry and entered a friend’s car that was waiting to take the caller to school. The driver then returned to the truck, loaded the items, and left the scene while driving aggressively.
Violent confrontation inside the truck
According to Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes, witnesses saw the two drivers fighting on the ground after they pulled over. Inside the truck, the altercation escalated, with both a knife and a firearm being used. The drivers were identified as a 28‑year‑old man and 25‑year‑old William Conway III.
Second 911 call confirms shooting and stabbing
About fifteen minutes after the first call, the same resident placed a second 911 call reporting that a driver had been shot in the neck and was not breathing. The caller also said the other driver had been stabbed multiple times, including a severe injury to his ear that he described as “bit my ear off.”
Victims and response
William Conway III was identified as the driver who was shot and later pronounced dead at the scene. The 28‑year‑old coworker survived after being stabbed several times, including injuries to his face and ear. The injured driver remained on the scene and spoke with the caller while awaiting medical assistance.
Law enforcement arrived shortly after the calls and secured the area. No additional injuries were reported. Officials said they are still awaiting a formal interview with the surviving driver, who is currently hospitalized.
Investigation ongoing
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation into the incident. While the identities of the drivers have been released, the name of the injured driver will not be disclosed until formal charges are filed. Authorities are reviewing the 911 recordings and witness statements to determine the exact sequence of events and any potential criminal charges.
Residents in the area expressed shock at the violent turn of a routine delivery dispute, emphasizing the need for calm and safety on local roadways.
