CARSON, Calif. — Over a two‑day period, investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department recovered two sets of remains from the Dominguez Channel, a waterway that runs alongside the Victoria Park Golf Course and nearby industrial rail yards.
Girl’s Remains Found First
On Tuesday, a patron walking the golf course spotted a body floating in the channel and immediately called emergency services. Responding deputies retrieved the remains and transferred them to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
The medical examiner later confirmed that the remains belong to a female child estimated to be between six and thirteen years old. The child had brown eyes, brown hair, and weighed approximately 59 pounds at the time of death. The examiner described the condition of the remains as “badly decomposed,” indicating that the body had been in the water for an extended period.
Second Body Discovered Nearby
On Wednesday, detectives responded to a separate report of a body discovered among rocks along the same stretch of the Dominguez Channel. That area is bordered by rail yards and various industrial businesses, making it a less frequented part of the waterway.
Law enforcement officials have not released further details about the second individual, including age, gender, or whether the two cases are linked. The ongoing investigation is being coordinated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office.
