Henderson Police Department (HPD) responded to a double‑homicide call at approximately 7 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Center Street, near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road. According to a statement from Capt. Haven Tillmon, officers found a man and a woman, both identified as 32 years old, suffering gunshot wounds inside an apartment and pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a vehicle leave the apartment complex. HPD later located a vehicle matching the description that had been involved in a crash on Lake Mead Parkway near Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Officers stopped the driver at the crash site and took the individual into custody.
KTNV reported that the suspect, identified as 22‑year‑old Andre Thigpen Jr., was booked on two counts of open murder and additional hit‑and‑run charges. The department also disclosed that Thigpen Jr. is a family member of one of the victims, though the specific relationship was not released.
News 3 LV confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody after the crash and that detectives are continuing the investigation. Tillmon emphasized that this shooting appears unrelated to a fatal shooting that occurred the previous day at a nearby apartment complex on Center Street, where a 40‑year‑old woman was killed.
Neighbors expressed shock and grief over the loss of three lives in the area within two days. One resident, speaking to Channel 13, said, “I feel real bad, I feel sad. I mean, three people lost their lives.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and HPD has asked anyone with additional information to contact the department.
What’s next: HPD has not announced a specific date for a press conference, but the department indicated that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any further information to Henderson Police.
