The city of Tuscaloosa’s water department is celebrating National Lakes Appreciation Month with a series of events and activities at Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol, and Harris Lake.
Events Planned
Mark Thomas, lakes division manager, said, ‘Our lakes are some of Tuscaloosa’s greatest treasures, and National Lakes Appreciation Month is an opportunity for our community to experience everything they have to offer.’ The events include free parking at Sharpes and Rock Quarry Landing from July 3-5, and the Lake Nicol Paddle Fest on July 18, which features a timed 3-mile race, a 3-mile Fun Float, and a 1-mile paddle.
Additionally, the Tuscaloosa Lakes Bingo Challenge will take place throughout July, where participants can complete lake-themed activities and win a Tuscaloosa Water rubber duck. A Lakes Photo Contest is also being held, where residents can submit their photos of Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol, or Harris Lake using the hashtag #TuscaloosaLakes.
