Trump Claims Reflecting Pool Vandalized

President Donald Trump claimed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was intentionally vandalized and said law enforcement is actively investigating. The alleged vandalism comes after a recent $14.7 million renovation of the pool, which was part of Trump’s beautification projects in DC.

Investigation Underway

Trump linked the alleged vandalism at the Reflecting Pool to the mysterious etching of ‘8647’ into the grass on the National Mall days prior. The president stated that the numbers were an act of ‘deranged vandalism’ and that law enforcement is working to address the issue.

The Reflecting Pool’s renovation was initially estimated to cost $1.8 million but the price tag increased to $14.7 million, according to a contract summary of the Interior Department’s award to Atlantic Industrial Coatings. Trump touted his beautification projects in DC and slammed Democrats for not fixing the pool sooner.
