A recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS reveals that a record-high 73% of US adults believe President Donald Trump hasn’t paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems, with only 27% saying he’s had the right priorities.
Trump’s Approval Ratings
Trump’s overall approval rating has hit a new low at 34%, matching his career low at the close of his first term, following the January 6 protests and Capitol breach. Half of Americans now strongly disapprove of him, a high across his terms, with a record-low 15% strongly approving.
Within his own party, his approval rating has hit a new low at 78% among Republicans, and just 19% of Republicans say they’re enthusiastic about the rest of his second term, down from 38% last spring. Trump sees his lowest numbers on issues such as his handling of the situation in Iran, inflation, and gas prices, with significant pockets of disapproval even among his supporters.
Economic Concerns
The poll also shows that 74% of Americans say rising gas prices have caused them at least some hardship, up from 63% in March, with just under one-quarter believing the president has a plan to address the issue. And 71% say Trump hasn’t gone far enough in trying to reduce the price of everyday goods, up from 58% a year ago.
