Tristan Peters’ two-run double lifts White Sox over Rangers 11-7

Chicago – In a high‑scoring showdown on Tuesday night, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 11‑7, snapping a recent losing streak against the visiting club. The decisive spark came early when All‑Star outfielder Tristan Peters ripped a two‑run double off veteran pitcher Jacob deGrom, giving the Sox a 4‑0 lead in the first inning.

Early dominance sets tone

Peters opened the game with a broken‑bat liner to right field that drove in Miguel Vargas and Braden Montgomery. He followed that up with a two‑run single, contributing to a six‑run first inning that put the Rangers on the back foot. Brenton Doyle added a two‑run single of his own, extending Chicago’s advantage to 8‑0 before the Rangers could answer.

Rangers fight back

Texas responded in the sixth inning when Jake Burger, Danny Jansen and Justin Foscue each homered, narrowing the gap to 10‑7. The Rangers loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth, but relief pitcher Grant Taylor secured his eighth save after Cody Freeman was forced out on a fielder’s choice.

DeGrom’s rough night

Jacob deGrom, now 9‑9 on the season, was charged with eight earned runs on six hits in just 3 2/3 innings. The two‑time Cy Young Award winner issued five walks and struck out only two batters, his lowest strikeout total of the year. The eight runs matched the most he has allowed in a game since joining the Rangers.

White Sox bullpen holds firm

Left‑hander Anthony Kay gave up four runs and six hits over 4 2/3 innings, while right‑hander Bryan Hudson (4‑4) closed the game, recording the final four outs for the win. Peters capped his night with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, his 11th career homer and his fourth straight game with a long ball.

Looking ahead

The White Sox (69‑63) remain atop the AL Central, while the Rangers (66‑67) sit a half‑game behind the Houston Astros in the AL West. Both clubs will continue their seven‑game homestand, with Texas starting left‑hander MacKenzie Gore (7‑9, 4.26 ERA) in the series finale on Wednesday, and Chicago countering with right‑hander Sean Burke (7‑6, 3.27 ERA).

Fans in both markets will be watching closely as the two teams vie for playoff positioning in the final stretch of the season.
