A tractor-trailer crashed into two garages in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, after a 76-year-old woman driving a red Ford Escape failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the side of the tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to crash into the garages, trapping its 56-year-old truck driver, who had to be extricated by fire crews.

Crash and Aftermath

Both drivers were transported to Hershey Medical Center with minor injuries. The crash caused extensive damage to the two garages, and structural collapse teams were called to the scene to assess the damage. Several other parked vehicles were also struck and damaged, and diesel and paint that the truck was carrying spilled.

Chief Rick Kreitzer of the Bunker Hill Fire Company noted that crashes at this intersection are not uncommon, citing distracted driving as a possible cause. The homeowners said the crash caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to their property, including three motorcycles and valuable memorabilia.

Residents are calling for additional safety measures along Route 72, where the posted speed limit is 45 mph. They say speeding and limited visibility make entering the highway dangerous, especially with children and school buses regularly traveling through the area.
