Toledo YMCA Hosts Free Basketball Camp for Local Youth

The YMCA in west Toledo is providing an exciting opportunity for local families with children eager to improve their basketball skills. Starting Monday, June 8, the YMCA will host a free, week-long co-ed basketball camp designed for kids entering kindergarten through 8th grade in the upcoming school year.

Camp Details

The camp will take place at the west Toledo YMCA on Tremainsville Road, conveniently located next to Start High School. The program is structured to cater to different age groups, ensuring that each child receives age-appropriate coaching and attention.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Grades 6-8: 9 – 11 a.m.
  • Grades 3-5: 11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
  • Grades K-2: 1 – 2 p.m.

Each age group will have spots available for 50 children, allowing for a focused and engaging experience for all participants. The camp will run from Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12, offering a week full of learning and fun on the basketball court.

Community Impact

This initiative by the YMCA reflects a commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting healthy, active lifestyles among young people. By providing this camp at no cost, the YMCA is making it accessible to a wide range of families, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent children from participating in sports and physical activities.

Parents interested in enrolling their children in the camp are encouraged to contact the west Toledo YMCA for more information and to secure a spot for their child. This camp not only aims to develop basketball skills but also to instill values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in young athletes.
