Todd Blanche Nominated as Attorney General Amid DOJ Arrests

In a significant development, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche expressed his gratitude for President Donald Trump’s decision to nominate him as the permanent head of the Department of Justice. This announcement follows a series of high-profile arrests carried out by the DOJ, underscoring the administration’s focus on public safety.

Commitment to Public Safety

Blanche, speaking on ‘Saturday in America,’ highlighted the department’s efforts to fulfill President Trump’s campaign promises of enhancing national security. He stated, ‘Executing on the president’s priorities that he has talked about since he was running for president, and that’s making this country safe again.’

The nomination comes after Blanche took over as acting attorney general in April, following the departure of Pam Bondi. Bondi had faced criticism from some conservative circles over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles congratulated Blanche, emphasizing their continued collaboration.

Recent DOJ Successes

Among the recent DOJ achievements is the dismantling of a sophisticated drug-smuggling tunnel from Mexico to California. Blanche described the tunnel as ‘very sophisticated,’ equipped with a rail system and electricity, highlighting the ongoing challenges at the border despite closures.

Additionally, the DOJ announced indictments against three individuals accused of supporting ISIS. Blanche described their rhetoric as ‘very disturbing’ and praised federal authorities for their swift action. ‘It’s a good reminder to the Americans that this fight is not over,’ he remarked.

Legal and Policy Developments

In a separate legal matter, Blanche confirmed that the DOJ would not pursue a nearly $1.8 billion ‘anti-weaponization’ fund, following a court ruling that temporarily blocked it. This fund was part of a settlement in a case involving President Trump and the IRS over tax return disclosures.

Blanche, who previously served as Trump’s lead criminal defense attorney, including in the New York hush money case, reiterated the DOJ’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring justice.
