Detroit Tigers All-Star outfielder Riley Greene was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Greene left Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians early after being hit by a pitch.

Injury Details

He fell to the ground after taking a Tanner Bibee pitch off his lower right leg in the second inning. Greene stayed in the game and scored the game’s first run on a double by Spencer Torkelson. However, when the Tigers took the field in the top of the third, rookie Ben Malgeri assumed Greene’s spot in left field.

Manager A.J. Hinch ruled out playing Greene in Wednesday’s game, saying, ‘When the lineup comes out, he’s not going to be in it. I’m not even going to consider it.’ Greene has played in 117 of the Tigers’ 119 games this season, with a .273/.366/.450 slash line, 16 home runs, and 54 RBIs.

Roster Moves

In corresponding moves, the Tigers selected the contract of outfielder Corey Julks from Triple-A Toledo. Right-handed pitcher Troy Watson was designated for assignment. Julks made his major league debut with Houston in 2023 and batted .245 with six homers, 33 RBIs, and 15 steals in 93 games.

Additionally, left-handed pitcher Enmanuel De Jesus was activated off the paternity list, and righty Yilber Diaz was optioned to Triple-A.
