Hampton, Conn. – On Monday afternoon, state troopers responded to a 911 call reporting an active burglary at a residence on Hartford Turnpike. The caller, who had a live‑stream camera on the property, described seeing a man in dark clothing, a face mask, hood and bandana near the front of the home.
Witnesses see multiple suspects on camera
According to the caller, the house sits about 400 feet back from the road, a location that should be off‑limits to anyone without permission. The live feed later showed two men in all‑black attire appearing to break into the home.
Troopers and K9 unit arrive
State police troopers and their K9 partner, Kash, arrived on the scene roughly ten minutes after the call. Officers observed three men wearing dark clothing, hoods and face masks standing in the woods behind the residence. When the troopers identified themselves, all three fled on foot into the surrounding woods.
K9 tracks suspects to Air‑Line Trail
Kash was released to track the fleeing suspects. The dog followed a scent trail that led officers to the Air‑Line Trail, where the three individuals were located and taken into custody.
Suspects identified and charged
The arrested men are a 19‑year‑old from Gales Ferry, a 19‑year‑old from Hampton, and a 32‑year‑old from Jewett City. Each faces charges of burglary‑related offenses, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and interfering with an officer or resisting arrest.
