McKinney families won’t need to drive to Dallas to satisfy a craving for classic State Fair fare. Starting September 25, The Stix Icehouse will transform its 14‑acre campus into a mini‑fair, offering a limited‑time menu, live music and a slate of kid‑friendly activities through October 18.
Fair‑Inspired Menu with a McKinney Twist
The pop‑up menu leans heavily into the fried, oversized foods that define Texas fair season. Highlights include the Footlong—a deep‑fried foot‑long corny dog smothered in queso, barbecue sauce and crinkle‑cut fries—and the Mac Stack Burger, which adds a fried mac and cheese ball to a classic cheeseburger. Other indulgent options are Hot Cheeto elote, Frito pie, deep‑fried Oreos, and funnel‑cake fries drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Drink choices feature a Texas Cherry Limeade made with Tito’s Vodka, a Cotton Candy Margarita, and a non‑alcoholic Cotton Candy Lemonade.
Family‑Focused Activities
Beyond food, The Stix Icehouse’s expansive grounds provide ample recreation. Visitors can enjoy sports fields, walking trails, disc golf, cornhole, swings and a treehouse. The final day, October 18, doubles as the venue’s fifth annual Good Ol’ Days Fest, a free community celebration running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fest includes pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin‑themed activities, a vendor market, old‑fashioned field‑day games and a charity dunk tank.
Community Mission
“Our mission is to create a more connected community and lifetime memories for family and friends. Fall is one of our favorite times of year to make that mission real,” said Rae Phillips Luther, spokesperson for The Stix Icehouse, in an official statement. “We’re taking the fun of the State Fair and making it our own – and then finishing with our 5th birthday celebration, filled with free activities for the whole community!”
