The Eagle Food & Beer Hall opened this week in Mason’s Deerfield district, marking the first Mason‑based location for the popular Cincinnati fried‑chicken chain owned by Thunderdome Restaurant Group. The 4,600‑square‑foot venue includes an 800‑square‑foot dedicated takeout area and a walk‑up window where guests can order beer, wine, cocktails and food to go.
Menu highlights and new dishes
While the restaurant’s signature bone‑in fried chicken remains the centerpiece, the Deerfield location introduces a “next phase” menu featuring lighter, modern dishes with a Southern twist. Exclusive items include roasted carrots with honey‑whipped feta, a marinated cucumber salad with green apple, sesame and spicy champagne vinaigrette, the Wedge and City Salad, a Blackened Shrimp Skewer appetizer, and a smash burger made with an Eckerlin Meats blend.
“Deerfield gave us a chance to push the menu forward while still doing right by the fried chicken that built this brand,” said Joe Lanni, president of Thunderdome, in the press release. “These new dishes are lighter and a little more modern, but they’ve still got that Southern soul our guests expect from The Eagle.”
Takeout concept inspired by pandemic lessons
Lanni explained that the dedicated takeout concept grew out of lessons learned during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Guests can pick up orders to enjoy at home, in the District’s open‑air public park, or even take them to nearby Pins Mechanical Co., which opened last year.
The Eagle Food & Beer Hall operates Monday‑Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Future Thunderdome projects
Thunderdome plans to open a Pepp & Dolores location in Deerfield in November. The new food and beer hall will also feature Thunderdome Select Single Barrels and wines curated by Pepp & Dolores, adding to the district’s growing culinary scene.
With eight locations already operating in markets such as Over‑the‑Rhine, Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville and Pittsburgh, The Eagle’s expansion into Mason reflects the chain’s continued growth and commitment to serving families and communities with quality Southern‑style fare.
