A recent school shooting in Thailand has raised concerns about the impact of violent content online. The 14-year-old perpetrator had watched violent content online and had an air gun confiscated by a teacher last year.
Investigation Continues
According to witness interviews, the perpetrator had begun showing interest in studying the use of firearms for some time, about one to two years. The boy’s mother said she saw no signs of trouble and that he was a bright, cheerful person.
The Ministry of Education has announced plans to develop new safety protocols, including mental health screenings and a system to refer at-risk individuals to specialists. The government has also promised to increase efforts to prevent bullying and improve detection of items being taken into schools.
