Texas Woman’s University Hosts NorTex College Fair for Students and Parents Sept. 8

The NorTex College Fair returns to Texas Woman’s University (TWU) on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the university’s Denton campus. Hosted in the Student Union at Hubbard Hall, the free event brings together representatives from over 90 colleges, universities and trade schools in one convenient location.

Why the fair matters for families

“Choosing what comes after high school is a big decision, and not every student or family has the time or resources to visit multiple campuses,” said Brittnee Hernandez, manager of strategic initiatives and operations at TWU. “This college fair brings those opportunities together in one place, giving students the chance to explore colleges, universities and trade schools, ask meaningful questions, and connect with people who can help guide their next steps.”

What attendees can expect

Beyond meeting admissions officers, the fair offers several focused sessions:

  • Financial Aid Breakout Session – Held in Bridges Auditorium, this session explains federal applications and scholarship opportunities.
  • Distinguished Scholar Programs – In the SGA Chambers (Room 1510), prospective students and parents can learn about TWU’s unique scholarship program, which awards between $6,000 and full‑cost‑of‑attendance awards.
  • Hands‑on Admissions Help – In SUHH Room 223, attendees can receive direct assistance from admissions officers and get answers to specific application questions.

Free, permit‑less parking will be available for students and supporting adults, making the event accessible for families coming from across the Denton area.

About Texas Woman’s University

Founded in 1901, TWU is the nation’s largest woman‑focused university system, with campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston. The university is known for strong programs in nursing, healthcare, education, the arts, sciences and business. TWU’s inclusive culture emphasizes experiential learning, leadership, service, discovery and health‑and‑well‑being. National media have recognized TWU as a top college for student‑parents, veterans and social mobility.

In 2024, TWU surpassed its $125 million fundraising goal for the DREAM BIG campaign, which supports programming, equipment, scholarships and faculty development. More information about the campaign and the university can be found at dreambig.twu.edu or twu.edu.

How to register

Registration is required and can be completed online at twu.edu/visit/nortex-college-fair/. The process is quick and ensures a smooth experience on the day of the fair.

The NorTex College Fair provides a valuable resource for Denton families seeking higher‑education options, whether they are considering a four‑year university, a community college or a trade school. By gathering so many institutions under one roof, the event helps students make informed decisions about their future while easing the financial and logistical burdens often associated with college searches.
