A dramatic rescue took place in Lyford, Texas, near the Texas-Mexico border, where a man was attacked by a swarm of bees while doing yard work next to his home.
Rescue Efforts
Body camera video shows officers rushing toward the disabled man after he fell near a neighbor’s home and was unable to escape the swarm. A towel had been placed over him in an attempt to shield him from the bees. Despite being surrounded by the swarm and repeatedly stung, officers quickly pulled the man into a patrol vehicle to get him to safety.
One officer then ran back to retrieve a jacket to provide additional protection. The man suffered at least 30 bee stings. Investigators later located a beehive in a nearby vacant lot, which has since been removed.
