A Texas family’s dog, Deuce, was rushed to a veterinary clinic after being attacked by a porcupine. The clinic staff said it was one of the most severe cases of porcupine quills they’d ever seen.
Knowing they’d be facing a hefty vet bill, the family turned to their community for help. They posted on a local community Facebook page, hoping for a little help. The community responded within minutes, and eventually, donations covered the bill in its entirety.
The family was grateful for the community’s support, saying it showed that there are good people in the world and that Abilene is a good community to be a part of. People continued to check on Deuce’s recovery, and the vet clinic had to turn away donations by the end of the day.
