TEXARKANA, Texas — Mary Chris ‘MC’ Vogt is making history as the first female head coach of women’s basketball at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Vogt was promoted recently to succeed Deacon Jones, who accepted a position as head women’s basketball coach at Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

Background and Experience

Vogt was the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2025-26 season, helping lead the Eagles to a 20-10 record. She joined the Eagles in 2025 after spending 10 seasons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she served as an assistant coach and the chief of staff/director of operations for women’s basketball.

Prior to her time in Lafayette, Vogt spent five seasons on Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair’s staff at Texas A&M University from 2010-15. She served as a camp coach specializing in guard development while also working as camp coordinator, assistant video coordinator, and in recruiting support. Vogt was a member of the Aggies’ coaching staff that captured the 2011 NCAA National Championship.

A native of Carrollton, Texas, Vogt is a 2015 graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and sports management and minored in coaching and international/cultural management.
