The Kiwanis Club of Texarkana has donated $5,131.35 to Beds for Kids, a local organization that provides beds to children who do not have a safe or adequate place to sleep.
Supporting the Local Community
The donation was raised through a silent auction and a SINGO competition at the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis District Convention in July at the Texarkana Convention Center. Barbara Walker, president-elect of the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana, said Beds for Kids works with local agencies and community partners to identify children in need.
Since its founding in 2018, Beds for Kids has provided more than 1,000 beds to children in the area and continues to see a growing need for its services. Destiny Carter, president of the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying, “It is because of the generosity of our community partners who donated to our Silent Auction that we were able to raise these funds and support such a meaningful cause.”
