A local gun range in Texarkana, Texas, is hosting a youth firearm safety seminar aimed at educating young people and families on responsible firearm handling, safe storage practices, and developing a culture of safety and awareness.
Event Details
The seminar, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Fox Squad Armory, will cover topics such as what to do if you encounter a firearm in public and how to respond safely. The event is free, and parental involvement is encouraged.
Owner of Fox Squad Armory, John Marshall, said the goal is to educate youth and help families reinforce safe habits at home. Marshall also plans to discuss proper firearm storage with parents.
Local law enforcement officials have expressed gratitude for the initiative, with Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department Public Information Officer Kristen Schultz saying, “A child’s curiosity is powerful. Guiding it safely is our responsibility. We are excited that these companies want to get the youth together and teach them responsibility when it comes to firearms.”
The seminar is open to youth of various ages, and Marshall hopes it will serve as a resource for families while promoting a culture of safety and responsibility within the community.
