Texarkana Events: Summer Reading, Fundraisers, and More

Texarkana is bustling with events that cater to families and individuals looking to engage with their community. The Texarkana Public Library will host a Summer Reading Kick Off Party on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 600 W 3rd St., Texarkana, Texas. Attendees can enjoy food vendors, a bounce house, local art, music, and family-friendly fun.

Community Fundraisers

The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Centers, in collaboration with Big Dam Waterpark, will hold the Hope RUSH ‘Fun’raiser on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5501 Crossroads Pkwy., Texarkana, Arkansas. The event includes a Duck Race and Decorate-a-Duck Challenge, with proceeds funding scholarships for homeless youths to attend afterschool and summer programs.

Texarkana Harley-Davidson will host a Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 802 Walton Dr., Texarkana, Texas. The event will feature food, drinks, shop vendors, t-shirts, raffles, and biker games.

Cultural and Creative Events

The Scholars will present ‘Keeping History Alive’ on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at Arkansas High School, Texarkana, Arkansas. The event will showcase African Dance and Drums, an Author Showcase, an Entrepreneurship Expo, and a Cultural Fashion Showcase.

For those interested in arts and crafts, Patricia Endsley will teach a Sea Turtle Jewelry-Making Class on Saturday, June 20, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Redbone Magic Brewing, Texarkana, Texas. Participants will create resin sea turtle earrings with jewels and mosaic seashell details.

Family Celebrations

The Children & Family Institute, in partnership with Texarkana Texas Parks & Recreation, will hold a Father’s Day Celebration on Friday, June 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Southwest Center, Texarkana, Texas. The event will include food, refreshments, door prizes, giveaways, and free haircuts.

Additionally, a Juneteenth Parade will take place on Saturday, June 20, at the Four States Fairgrounds Bobby Ferguson Park, Texarkana, Arkansas, celebrating the theme ‘Resilient Women’ with Grand Marshals Andrea Kelley, Katina Levingston, and Charkeitha Washington.
