Texarkana Board Approves Airport, Street Projects

The city Board of Directors in Texarkana, Ark., approved a series of contracts and grant-related resolutions totaling more than $3 million for airport improvements and street rehabilitation design work.

Airport Improvements

The board authorized the Texarkana Regional Airport to move forward with the purchase of a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle and related emergency equipment from Rosenbauer Minnesota LLC for up to $1.1 million. Airport officials said the equipment will replace a more than 20-year-old rescue truck and other aging firefighting gear.

The purchase will be funded entirely through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Arkansas Division of Aeronautics, requiring no local match.

Street Rehabilitation

The board also approved grant applications and contracts related to construction of a vehicle service road at the airport. Directors authorized an FAA grant application for the project totaling up to $1.63 million, approved a $254,500 engineering services agreement with Garver LLC, and awarded a construction contract to Tatum Excavating Co. for $1.6 million.

In other business, the board awarded a $152,500 engineering contract to A.L. Franks Engineering for design, surveying, bidding and construction administration services for 2025 street bond rehabilitation projects on McClure Road, Linn Ferry Road, Capitol Hill West Road and Grand Avenue.
