The first Wings & Blues Festival is scheduled for Saturday in Texarkana, Arkansas, and will be a tribute to local guitarist Travis Matthews. The free festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Front Street Festival Plaza and the Loading Dock Stage.
Festival Details
The festival is being organized by Tameka Grady, whose company Winners Circle 4 manages the plaza for the city. Grady is funding the festival, which will feature performances by Matthews, as well as B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute acts.
In addition to the music, the festival will include a guitar cypher contest, food showdowns, and vendors. Popular social media chef Audrey Desselle will also be in attendance, making his return to Texarkana for the festival.
Grady started Winners Circle 4 to honor her sister, Romeka Block, who died of breast cancer in 2015. The company recently received a $58,000 grant from the city, which will be used to promote Front Street and keep the plaza booked.
