Texarkana Regional Airport has revised its construction project to keep its runways open. The Airport Authority Board previously discussed a two-week closure of the main 4/22 runway and runway 13/31 as part of a strengthening and lengthening construction project.
Construction Updates
However, after ongoing coordination with engineers, contractors, and the Federal Aviation Administration, there are currently no planned closures of Texarkana Regional Airport as part of the improvement project. Scheduled commercial airline service is expected to continue uninterrupted throughout construction.
The runway project is part of the airport’s larger mission to open a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility for large-body aircraft. The facility is expected to generate approximately $14 million annually in local economic impact and create 150 to 160 jobs.
