Teen Brawl at Lynn McDonald’s Prompts Call for Parental Vigilance

Police are investigating a violent incident that unfolded Friday night at a McDonald’s on Boston Street in Lynn, Massachusetts. Around 10 p.m., a large group of teenagers in black hoodies and backpacks entered the restaurant, swarmed the kitchen and assaulted a young employee.

Details of the Brawl

Video captured at the scene shows the masked youths moving quickly inside the fast‑food outlet, with several members slipping behind the counter to confront the employee. The assault left the worker hurt, though the employee declined medical treatment at a hospital.

Law enforcement responded with approximately a dozen officers, whose presence caused the crowd to disperse. The department confirmed this was one of two similar incidents involving large groups of teens over the weekend, and both remain under investigation.

Community and Police Response

“To see that happen is just sad. It’s a sad world we live in. And I think these kids need to realize that what they’re doing is wrong,” said Lynn parent Stephanie Santiago, who was speaking after the incident.

Police issued a statement urging parents and guardians to be proactive about their children’s whereabouts and activities, especially during evening and weekend hours. “We also encourage parents and guardians to know where their children are, who they are with, and what activities they are participating in, particularly during evening and weekend hours,” the department said.

The Lynn Police Department is asking anyone with additional video footage or information that could help identify those involved to contact the department directly.

Broader Concerns

Incidents like this raise concerns about youth behavior and community safety after local events such as high school football games. While the investigation continues, city officials stress the importance of parental involvement and community vigilance to prevent future occurrences.

Residents are reminded that maintaining safe public spaces is a shared responsibility among law enforcement, families, and local businesses. The police department will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
