Teen Beaten Near MSG

A group approached a 17-year-old near Madison Square Garden and got into an argument before an individual punched and kicked the teen, according to the New York Police Department. The teen had a seizure and was in a coma but has since come out of it and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Incident Details

The altercation started when the wanted individual shouted, ‘Spurs are up right now. We’re winning. Spurs in 7.’ Somebody in the injured teen’s group responded with a derogatory comment, leading to a brawl. The teen’s mother said the doctor plans to take him off the ventilator and hopes he will be in a regular room soon.

The incident occurred after the New York Knicks’ miraculous Game 4 comeback. The team has a chance to win their first title since 1973 on Saturday night in Game 5 against the Spurs.

Watch parties have turned violent throughout the Knicks’ run, with numerous fights and chaotic behavior caught on camera. The Knicks’ owner, James Dolan, axed a planned 1,000-person party for Game 4, citing concerns about thousands of others being shut out from the event.
