TechFW presented the first-ever Manufacturing Award at the Summer 2026 UTDesign Capstone Expo, held at The University of Texas at Dallas. The event brought together student innovators, industry supporters, and the public to showcase cutting-edge engineering and computer science projects.

The expo featured student presentations from electrical engineering, computer engineering, and mechanical engineering, highlighting innovative designs and practical solutions developed through hands-on capstone work. The event invited attendees to see how students apply technical knowledge to real-world challenges and build solutions with industry relevance.

The engineering award was judged by Brittany Rosenberg of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center. TechFW and TMAC have long been partners in promoting manufacturing and engineering, and earlier this year announced the Manufacturing Accelerator and Development Engine (MADE) to help accelerate manufacturing growth and competitiveness across North Texas.

Caitlin McMinn, Executive Director of TechFW, stated, “Today’s Capstone Expo is more proof that North Texas is the place to be for manufacturing. And we are proud to be a part of it and present the first ever MADE Award to the winner of today’s engineering proposal. This award recognizes the student team whose project demonstrates exceptional innovation, technical excellence, and real-world impact.”

UTDesign Capstone connects senior undergraduate students with sponsor-driven challenges and real-world project opportunities. UTDesign has worked with 688 total sponsoring companies, supported 12,415 total capstone students, and completed 1,784 total sponsored projects, while earning 12 national first-place awards.
