Filmmaker and entrepreneur Taylor Sheridan, through his investment company SGS Supper Club, bought the historic Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater in the Fort Worth Stockyards, announcing plans to restore the venue and convert it into a 1920s‑inspired Texas supper club. The acquisition, recorded by the Tarrant County Appraisal District in December 2025, marks the latest addition to Sheridan’s growing footprint in the district, which already includes the Cattlemen’s Steakhouse purchased in summer 2025.
According to the Fort Worth Report, co‑owner David Glasser said construction on the theater project will begin soon, though an opening date has not yet been set as the owners finalize the design phase. The goal, Glasser added, is to “preserve and restore” the building’s exterior while creating a venue that reflects the era’s ambiance, ensuring the theater’s historic character remains intact.
Mayor Mattie Parker praised the development, calling it “especially exciting” and noting that Fort Worth benefits from dozens of developers investing in transformative projects across the Stockyards. Paul Paine, president and CEO of Fort Worth Stockyards Inc., described the reopening as “very positive” for the historic district, emphasizing the potential for increased tourism and local patronage.
The Isis Theater, built in 1913, has a storied past that includes a 1935 fire, a 1942 flood, and multiple ownership changes. After a four‑year renovation by Jeffrey and Debbie Garrett‑Smith, the venue reopened in 2021 as the Downtown Cowtown at the Isis, only to close again in November 2023 amid financial difficulties. The theater’s recent closure left a void in the North Main Street corridor, a gap that Sheridan’s project aims to fill.
Historic preservation advocate John Roberts said the new use could serve as a major draw for the area, provided the existing theater space is largely retained. While Glasser did not specify whether the 500‑seat auditorium will remain unchanged, he emphasized that the final design will evoke the era when the theater first thrived.
What’s next: SGS Supper Club expects to break ground on the renovation in the coming months. Residents and visitors should watch for announcements regarding construction timelines and future public events as the project progresses toward its eventual opening.
