Scotland’s “Tartan Army” has been the talk of the town, charming Bostonians with their kilts, bagpipes, good vibes and goodwill ever since they arrived in the city for the World Cup.
Community Outreach
The Tartan Army visited Horizons for Homeless Children in Roxbury, where they made a $1,200 donation, toured the center and played bagpipes for children. In Providence, they made a $10,000 donation to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, marking the largest charitable contribution in the group’s history.
Gov. Maura Healey said the Tartan Army has brought the energy, joy and enthusiasm to Massachusetts. The team’s supporters have marched through Boston, attended a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, played the bagpipes, and made friends with the locals.
The Tartan Army is now headed south as Team Scotland prepares to play their final Group C stage match against Brazil at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Before leaving, they wrote a heartfelt thank you to the City and people of Boston on social media.
