A water main break in East Tampa has completely shut down the intersection of East Hanna Avenue and North 38th Street. The Tampa Water Department announced the closure on Saturday morning, with repair crews already on the scene working to fix the broken pipe.
City workers have set up barricades and detour signs throughout the immediate area to help reroute drivers around the closure. Local officials are asking motorists to use extra caution when driving through nearby neighborhoods, as unexpected traffic shifts and modifications may become necessary as the repair work progresses.
If everything goes according to plan, the city expects the pipeline to be fixed and normal traffic patterns to return by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6. However, that timeline isn’t set in stone, as the repair schedule depends heavily on local weather conditions, and utility crews might need to return to the site for a follow-up visit to complete secondary repairs.
