A late-night crash on US-92 in Tampa has claimed the life of a 68-year-old cyclist, according to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 11:20 PM. State troopers reported that a Honda sedan, driven by a 23-year-old man from Tallahassee, was traveling eastbound on US-92. Just west of Orient Road, the 68-year-old Tampa man attempted to cross the highway on his bicycle and was struck by the oncoming Honda sedan.
Emergency responders arriving at the scene treated the cyclist and transported him to an area hospital. Authorities confirmed that the man later died from the injuries he suffered during the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of either the driver or the bicyclist at this time, and the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
