The 4th of July weekend is here, and Tampa Bay has a variety of events and entertainment options to celebrate. The St. Pete Opera will be performing at the Mahaffey Theater on Saturday at 6 p.m. with a full orchestra and a cast of vocalists singing patriotic, classical American, and Broadway musical selections.

The LAB Theater Project in Ybor City is opening a dramatic play called The Cross & The Saber, which imagines a dystopian future where government and religion oppress the population. The play starts tonight and runs through the weekend. The freeFall Theater in St. Petersburg is also continuing its original production of the musical comedy Bash of the Titans.
Joe Jackson, a British musician, will be performing at the Capitol Theatre tonight with his band. The New Tampa Performing Arts Center will be hosting a piano recital tonight as part of the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival. The Palladium Theater Side Door Cabaret will feature jazz pianist Simon Lasky and his New York Quintet, with vocalist Allison Nash.
On Sunday, the Florida Jazz Express will be performing at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center for a Fourth of July Big Band Concert. Other upcoming events include Victor Wainwright & The Train at the Palladium Side Door Cabaret, Post Malone and Jelly Roll at Raymond James Stadium, and Dear Jack Dear Louise at the Straz Center Shimberg Playhouse.
