Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was gifted concert tickets in Puerto Rico last year, according to financial disclosure forms released Monday. The forms provide insight into how the justices spend time off the bench, including paid teaching gigs and book deals.
Financial Disclosures
The justices’ financial disclosures show that many of them have lucrative book deals and teaching assignments. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson disclosed $1.81 million in book advances, while Justice Amy Coney Barrett reported more than $849,000 in royalties. Chief Justice John Roberts reported $25,000 in teaching income for a brief course at New England Law School.
Several justices also reported paid teaching assignments, including Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who received $33,285 for teaching at Notre Dame. Justice Neil Gorsuch taught for roughly two weeks last July at a George Mason University campus in Prague, records show.
The court released disclosure forms for eight of the nine sitting justices. Justice Samuel Alito requested a 90-day extension, the court said.
