As summer arrives, many of us are looking for new books to read. This month, several authors are releasing new titles that are sure to interest readers of all genres. From murder mysteries to historical epics, there’s something for everyone.
New Releases
Katherine Arden’s new novel, “The Unicorn Hunters”, tells the story of a young royal from Brittany who secretly marries in an enchanted forest. Eric Jay Dolin’s “The Wreck of the Mentor” is a true story of a whaling ship that was shipwrecked in the Pacific in 1832. Cynthia Gómez’s debut novel, “Muñeca”, is set in Oakland during the late 1960s and follows a working-class Latina witch who aims to cure a cursed heiress.
Rasheed Newson’s “There’s Only One Sin in Hollywood” explores old Hollywood and its secrets, while Maggie O’Farrell’s “Land” is a historical epic about a father and son who are part of an effort to map the landscape of Ireland in the 1860s. Ruth Ozeki’s “The Typing Lady: And Other Fictions” features stories about language, leaf blowers, and more.
Other notable releases include Ann Patchett’s “Whistler”, Allie Rowbottom’s “Lovers XXX”, and Lisa See’s “Daughters of the Sun and Moon”. Nonfiction releases include Yeganeh Torbati and Bozorgmehr Sharafedin’s “Stolen Revolution” and Sarah Valentine’s “Decoding the Devil”.
