The Storey County Sheriff’s Office is responding to recent drone sightings in the Virginia City area. They have received many reports about the drones and want the public to know they are aware.
In a post on Facebook, the sheriff’s office wrote that the drone is part of a geophysical drone surveying company contracted to conduct survey operations on claims in the area, including in the BLM land surrounding Virginia City and the Virginia City Highlands.
SCSO has been in contact with the company and drone pilot. The pilot has been advised of private property boundaries and SCSO has reviewed flight paths.
The sheriff’s office thanked the public for their concern and understanding.
