Stevie Wonder Announces 50th‑Anniversary Tour for ‘Songs in the Key of Life’

Stevie Wonder, the iconic singer‑songwriter and 25‑time Grammy Award winner, has unveiled a 50th‑anniversary tour celebrating his landmark 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Wonder announced that he will perform the entire 21‑track record at each stop, offering fans a rare opportunity to hear the beloved songs live in their original order.

Tour itinerary

The 18‑date trek kicks off in Birmingham, England, on October 13. From there, the tour will travel across Europe, with scheduled performances in Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and London. The U.S. leg begins at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 19, followed by shows in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Detroit. The tour will wrap up at the Intuit Dome in the Los Angeles area on December 19.

Ticket sales

Presales started at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday, September 9, with general sales for most U.S. dates opening the same day. European and U.K. tickets become available on September 11. Fans are encouraged to act quickly, as demand for Wonder’s performances is expected to be strong.

Why the album matters

When Songs in the Key of Life was released in September 1976, it topped the charts for 14 weeks and produced two No. 1 hits, “I Wish” and “Sir Duke.” The album earned Wonder his third Grammy for Album of the Year and was later added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, a distinction reserved for recordings of cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance to American life.

The record’s 21 tracks include timeless classics such as “Isn’t She Lovely,” “As,” and “Pastime Paradise,” the latter of which was famously sampled in Coolio’s 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise.”

First full tour since 2024

The upcoming shows mark Wonder’s first full‑scale tour since his 2024 “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” concert series, which emphasized themes of national unity and moral renewal.

About Stevie Wonder

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1950, Wonder signed with Motown’s Tamla label at age 11 and scored his first Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Fingertips,” at 13. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and, in 2024, received Ghanaian citizenship from President Nana Akufo‑Addo.

Fans across the United States and Europe can look forward to experiencing the full breadth of Wonder’s artistic legacy as he revisits the album that helped define a generation.
