Statue of Charlie Kirk Vandalized with Red Paint at Turning Point USA Phoenix HQ

Early Sunday morning, September 13, Phoenix police responded to reports of vandalism outside the Turning Point USA headquarters in the city’s Arizona capital. Officers found the eight‑foot bronze statue of slain right‑wing activist Charlie Kirk smeared with red paint across its face and neck, and a frowning face painted on its chest.

Turning Point USA, the conservative campus organization co‑founded by Kirk, had unveiled the statue on September 10 to mark the one‑year anniversary of his death. The ceremony also featured a Christian memorial sign bearing the word “Jesus” and a cross, both of which were crossed out by the vandals.

Organization’s Response

In a social‑media statement, Turning Point USA condemned the act as “diabolical” and referenced a passage from the Gospel of John: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” The group said it would restore the statue and the memorial sign, and it is reviewing surveillance footage while working with law‑enforcement to identify the responsible party.

Spokesman Andrew Kolvet later posted that the team had already restored the statue, describing it as “looking good as new.” He also urged anyone with information to contact Phoenix police or the Silent Witness tip line at 480‑WITNESS.

Background on Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk, 31 at the time of his death in September 2025, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. He co‑founded Turning Point USA and became a prominent figure in conservative politics, known for his support of President Trump and his advocacy for traditional values.

The man accused of killing Kirk, Tyler Robinson, has pleaded not guilty and faces an aggravated murder charge. A Utah judge recently allowed the case to proceed to trial, where prosecutors may seek the death penalty if convicted.

Police Investigation

Phoenix police confirmed that officers arrived at the scene after receiving calls about the damage. As of the time of writing, no arrests have been made and no suspect description has been released. Authorities continue to review video evidence and are asking the public for tips.

The incident occurs amid ongoing debates over public monuments and the expression of political viewpoints in public spaces. While some view the statue as a tribute to a martyr for conservative causes, others see it as a symbol of partisan division.

Turning Point USA’s swift restoration effort underscores the organization’s commitment to preserving Kirk’s legacy and its resolve to stand firm against attempts to silence its message.
