The recent earthquake in Venezuela has prompted a humanitarian response from the St. Petersburg art community. The Carlos Carrasco Foundation, founded by Venezuelan-American baseball player Carlos Carrasco and his wife, has partnered with local galleries D-Gallerie and ARTicles to provide relief for those affected by the disaster.
An Evening of Art & Solidarity
A reception and silent auction will be held on Saturday, with 100% of the silent auction proceeds and 10% of art sales going to the foundation. Authentic Venezuelan food will be available from Carupano Kitchen.
In other local art news, the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance will host its Second Saturday ArtWalk, featuring approximately 40 artist studios and galleries. The Warehouse Arts District Association’s Arts Xchange campus will also be open, with art booths, food trucks, and music.
Upcoming Exhibitions
The Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg will open an exhibition of historical photography, A Terrible Beauty: Photographers Amid Chaos, on Saturday. The Morean Arts Center will also host several exhibitions, including Into the Mystic, a solo exhibition by Neverne Covington, and Sugar High, featuring 150 works of art created by Morean members.
