The Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County (DOH-St. Lucie) is now offering sports physicals with electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) screenings for incoming ninth-grade students and returning high school athletes.
Locations and Appointments
Sports physicals will be available at the Fort Pierce Clinic and the Port St. Lucie Clinic. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 772-462-3800.
The sports physical costs $110, with an additional $30 charge for the EKG. Payment is accepted from self-pay, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and contracted Medicaid plans. Families are encouraged to bring photo identification, insurance cards, and any medical records related to cardiac health or EKG exemptions to their appointment.
According to Clint Sperber, DOH-St. Lucie health officer, this service helps prepare student athletes for back-to-school, identify potential heart conditions early, and promote safer participation in youth sports while ensuring compliance with new student athletic requirements in Florida.
